Fire Sculpture #1 from the series In the Line of Fire, 2020-2022
Congratulations to Kiln Photo member Corinne Whitehouse, whose image above has been shortlisted for this year's Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition, RPS IPE 164.
About the image:
There is something both haunting and beautiful about Thursley Common as it rises from the ashes after a wildfire in May 2020 - the hottest and driest month on record in the UK. The charcoal fire-sculptures pepper the landscape - a reminder and a warning. Shot on 120mm black and white film, In the Line of Fire, documents the aftermath of a heathland fire local to my home.
