What you’ll cover

  • One-light portrait setups

  • Positioning subjects effectively

  • Working with soft boxes and reflectors

  • Creating flattering light

  • Basic communication and directing techniques



Development | £76

1 x 1 hour tutorial + 1 support session


The best balance between learning and practical experimentation.


What you’ll cover

Step 1 - Tutorial

  • Understanding lighting ratios

  • Hard vs soft light

  • Rembrandt, butterfly and side lighting setups

  • Using fill and separation light


Step 2 - Support session

  • Guided portrait shoots

  • Refining posing and direction

  • Working with multiple light sources

  • Tutor critique and feedback


Recommended for most learners.



Comprehensive | £115

1 x 1 hour tutorial + Taster Bundle


A complete pathway combining tuition with extended supported practice.

  • All of the above as outlined in Development with repetition and guidance on hand.

  • Multi-light setups

  • Advanced portrait lighting techniques

Ideal for photographers wanting to use studio lighting regularly and independently.


The studio is a shared facility. We cannot guarantee exclusive use of the facilities. Luckily we have got enough space to comfortable accommodate two photographers shooting in the studio simultaneously.
